He moved from being hopeful to being hopeless. Is this possible for us who know God? The answer is yes. We all can miss the mark. Yet, Elijah was able to get out of that cave after hearing the voice of the Lord. He was able to fulfill his purpose in pouring his life into Elisha, Jehu and others. You can! Get up and Go!
