#1. What are we lacking that would bring us closer to God? God says come as you are… Define "lacking" for us please.
We can get into this rhythm where we feel like we haven't felt God for a while. Or a season when we just don't feel close to God. We tend to ask God, what am I lacking? How can I hear from You again?
To answer this, we look at the parable of the rich young ruler. The rich young ruler asked Jesus, "What am I lacking?" Jesus's response in Luke is this:
When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
#2. What are some normal things that you notice people love more than God? (Even if they won’t admit it)
Money
Relationships
Achievement
#3. What can we do to reprioritize life, so we can get closer to God?
It's getting your focus right. Keeping the main thing the main thing. God is first. Remind yourself "I am focused on God!" Don't daydream about the things that keep you away form God; refocus and think about God and your relationship with Him. Don't actively pursue the things you know are causing you to lack.
Let go of the thing that you are worried about. Give it to God and see what He does with it.
#4. "What Are You Lacking That Will Bring You Closer to God?" Final Thoughts:
Remember that you lack absolutely nothing. Read 2 Corinthians 9:8. You have everything you need to get closer to God today!
