Autoimmune thyroid diseases are the most prevalent organ-specific autoimmune diseases affecting about 5% of the population. They include Graves’ Disease and Hashimoto Thyroiditis, among others, and reflect the loss of immunological tolerance.
My special guest today is Dr Kevin Smith, a board-certified functional medicine practitioner who has been in practice since 2001. In addition to clinical practice at Integrated Thyroid, he's also a public speaker and published author. His second book on functional medicine is scheduled to be released later this year.
