Today I'm joined with the awe-inspiring Deja Foxx, activist, organizer, badass, future POTUS, and friend. Deja is the creator of @genzgirlgang, an online community redefining sisterhood, and @elriohap, a student-led group helping teens take control of their health, providing free confidential birth control and testing. Deja's motto is the demand and disrupt, which we discuss at length in the episode. She also officially announces some exciting news about a new lifestyle change, and we talk democratic primaries, investing in yourself, dealing with haters, and having our childhood documented on the internet. Joining me on the third episode of this season are Simon Geisker and George Du, NYU Tisch Film & Television third-years. When we met back in 2016, I watched their incredible partnership form. Here they are now, three years later, with a documentary on agricultural farming, GMOs, and the myths of climate change. The two went on a 47-day road trip around the United States, and then flew to China to collect interviews from scientists, experts, and industrial and family farmers.

Something about turning twenty radically changes your role in the world––often times, there is an added sense of autonomy in making sh*t happen, an added sense of agency in relationships with family, and an entirely new relationship with the rest of the world. Lately, I've felt like entering my twenties has required me to step into bigger roles in almost all of the relationships around me. 

On this episode, I talk about stepping into the vulnerability of engaging with my estranged family, and attempting to conduct research on our genealogy for the scholars program at Columbia. I talk about yet another restless summer, and the feelings of regression that often come from summers at home. 

I also mention the progress on the fundraiser I created for Melaleuca Elementary School and the ins and outs of that process. I hope you enjoy this episode!
