Obedience is essential for salvation. True Christians are saved by grace alone, through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone and the basis of their justification is his merits alone. But if we have been born again, we are new creations and will live differently. We are being transformed, or sanctified, and our lives will demonstrate that fact.

In one sense Jesus is the King of all creation. But for him to be our Savior-King we must first be born again so that we can enter the kingdom of God by faith. We will then willingly submit to Jesus as our King who sits on David’s throne forever.

Jesus Christ is our High Priest. He offered himself as a sacrifice to satisfy divine justice and he continues to intercede for us. His sacrifice was efficacious and will never be repeated. The Roman Catholic mass is unbiblical.

Sin is rebellion against God and profanes his holy name. He must deal with it. God’s wrath is his reaction against sin. In order to be saved, we must have the penalty paid, God’s just wrath must be satisfied. In addition, our relationship with him must be healed, we must be reconciled. Jesus does all of this through his sacrifice of atonement.

Jesus will continue to exist as the unique God-man forever. He fulfills the offices of Prophet, Priest and King to his people. As the final and ultimate Prophet he not only reveals God’s Word to us, he is God’s Word.

Jesus was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and did not inherit Adam’s guilt or a sinful nature. Mary was a godly woman, but a sinner in need of a Savior. The Roman Catholic doctrine of the immaculate conception is unbiblical. Jesus was fully human and tempted just as we are, but he resisted every temptation in his humanity and never sinned. We have the same Holy Spirit power available to help us avoid sinning.

Given that God created the entire universe, his causing Jesus to be born of a virgin is completely reasonable. The virgin birth of Jesus is an essential doctrine of biblical Christianity. It guards his true deity, humanity and sinlessness.

Because man has sinned against an infinitely holy and just God, he owes an infinite debt that no mere man can pay. Therefore, God became incarnate in the person of Jesus of Nazareth to pay the penalty for his people. Jesus Christ is the unique God-Man; truly God and truly man. Two distinct natures in one person.
