AI is coming for everybody's lunch. Sundar is dancing.

Google announced fundamental changes to its search product that will favor scaled businesses who can afford to pay Google for AI search mentions. Nobody else will get referral traffic or perhaps even mentioned on the search engine.

Google's AI will just provide an answer to your query that people will accept because of convenience. Google claims it will still provide referral links to content providers, but the smartest tech reporters on the planet don't believe this for a second, and neither should we.

After the AI tech platforms have destroyed our small or medium sized internet facing businesses and storefronts they will go after the huge businesses that can still afford to buy content distribution and advertising. Then they will go after each other in a monumental clash of the titans for global AI tech platform supremacy.

What a sad ending to the hopeful promise of the Internet.
