I am lucky that I get to sit in rooms and at tables with some incredibly talented, smart and successful people and I don't take a minute of what I do for granted. I quite literally love my work.
The same can't be said for drivers (aka delivery drivers) for Pepsi.
Disclaimer: I have nothing against Pepsi and if I had to choose between a Coke and a Pepsi, I'd choose a Pepsi. There I said it. I hold no interest in making Pepsi look bad.
Months ago I crossed paths with someone working to deliver Pepsi products and as I normally do when I come across someone I said "Hello" quickly followed up by "...and how are you doing today?".Their answer had stayed with me for months and I break that all down in this weeks episode.
While the people that I do get a chance to work with are great, and they truly are great people, there isn't one person that I have had to ask to communicate just a little bit more. Communicate with their team, their family, community, whoever will listen. Communicate to the point where you feel like you're bothering someone and then communicate some more.
I feel very strongly that if the Pepsi employee that I had a chance encounter with one day months ago worked with (not for) a leader that made communication a top priority I wouldn't have gotten the answer that I did and that leader would more than likely have a much happier (productive, caring, etc., etc. etc.) team on their hands.
Tune in today to hear me break this story down and why I feel like everyone (broad statement) likes a healthy culture as an idea, but they aren't interested in the habits and behaviours that are needed to get them there.
