What If: Science, Theory, and Possibilities

What If Every Asteroid Hit Earth at Once?

Listen Later

Sixty-six million years ago, an asteroid crashed into Earth, wiping out most life, including dinosaurs. If a rock of that size hit today, humans might face extinction.

Today, we examine the five deadliest asteroids to have hit Earth, either in the past or potentially in the future, and simulate what happens when they all strike simultaneously. Spoiler alert: Earth doesn't survive.

Key Moments:

02:10 The Barringer Asteroid
07:44 Asteroid YR4
12:43 Oumuamua
15:27 Chicxulub
19:37 Meteorite S2
