What I'm Most Thankful for, and Why I'm Leaning into a Daily Practice of Gratitude

Listen Later

It's Thanksgiving time and we're all reflecting on things that we're thankful for. I think that can be particularly challenging at this moment in time when we're dealing with a lot of challenges in terms of the political environment, and what that's going to mean for nonprofits, and for nonprofit leaders and the work ahead.

And I think actually that it's during these times when things look most challenging and most worrisome, that the practice of gratitude, and finding gratitude, is more important than ever. So I want to share some of the things that I'm feeling particularly thankful for. And I also want to share a little bit about the practice of gratitude and how that can look. And how it helps me show up in the world in a way that not only is better for the people around me, but is also what I believe is part of the secret to being more effective in the world. And Lord knows we need to be as effective as possible, because a lot is going to be asked of us in the coming couple of years.

In this episode, we share:

  • How a daily practice of gratitude has made a big difference for me
  • Why building community may be the key to creating the progressive change we seek
  • How community supports and strengthens us
  • One powerful and unlikely question to ask yourself when things are going sideways
  • How an unwanted obstacle can yield a bigger breakthrough

If you found value in this episode, please share it with other progressive nonprofit leaders.  And I’d be grateful if you would leave a rating and review on Apple podcasts, which will help even more people find out about this podcast.

Thanks!
