Rowan Sanderson sits down with Dr. Brendan Clarke, President of the Raw Feeding Veterinary Society (RFVS) to discuss the option of castrating a dog, the benefits and dog castration aftercare.

Castration is the neutering of male dogs by entirely removing their center for testosterone production, the testes. The procedure has been around as a beneficial procedure for decades to the point where it is now routine for most pet owners. It is done to prevent unwanted puppies, as well as to reduce the possibility of prostatitis and prostate and testicular cancer.

However, you must consider whether neutering your dog is really the best option for its long-term wellbeing. Brendan shares tips for making an informed decision, as well as proposing vasectomy as an alternative to castration. Finally, he talks about important castration aftercare considerations to make during the recovery period following the operation.
