It doesn't matter if it's Facebook, newspaper, radio, a flyer, a conversation, a telephone call, whatever, it doesn't matter. 

The thing that matters in content marketing is that it's a human to human thing. 

So whatever conduit you use to get there is irrelevant, although it plays a part in it as part of the strategy.
