POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia)

POTS is a condition that affects blood flow & can cause a range of symptoms like dizziness, fainting, and rapid heartbeat when moving from lying down to standing up. It is also usually in conjunction with another underlying diagnosis, such as auto-immune or other conditions. I was diagnosed in January 2021, and still don’t have answers. It is like I’m living stuck inside my body. I sit with Courtney Spies, who was diagnosed just in 2023,  after a trip to Aruba with her husband ended with her barely able to walk, unable to work and without answers. Those with POTS search for a diagnosis, knowing there is something wrong, but unsure “what is going on with my body” and struggle with finding the diagnosis name that is changing the rest of their life. And even after getting the diagnosis, it doesn’t change your life. It is a challenging journey, but we are all learning about our health every day and taking steps towards managing it.
