Tu B’Shevat is the Jewish ‘new year of trees.’ It’s a light-filled holiday full of hope for the future as it marks the transition from winter to the beginnings of spring. If you couldn’t tell by the name of this podcast, I am a plant-lover, so naturally, I am so thrilled to be recording my Tu B’Shevat special! Over Tu B’Shevat, the Jewish tradition invites us to reflect, plant new seeds of spiritual renewal and cultivate growth in all its forms. That’s why this week I am speaking with Kylie Unell, the founder of “Rooted.” A name so very fitting for the occasion, Rooted is an organization that empowers young Jews to feel confident about their Jewish identity and inspires them to foster a relationship with God. I don’t think I’m alone when I say that the first thought that comes to my mind is that fantasy about artists as those dreamy, idealistic, creative types eating a cheese board with one hand and painting with the other while looking out at a French sunset.
