In this first episode of the ‘Faith According to Jesus’ series, we slow down with Matthew 8:5–13 and listen to how Jesus responds to a Roman centurion. Jesus says He has not found such great faith, not even in Israel. What did He see in this man? We look at three simple marks of this ‘great faith’: coming to Jesus on behalf of another, believing what we have heard about Him enough to seek Him, and trusting His word and authority without needing to see first. I also share a real area where I am learning to practice this kind of faith in my own weakness, and we end with a prayer to the Father, to Jesus, and to the Holy Spirit. This episode is for anyone who wants their idea of faith to be shaped by what Jesus actually praised.
