Second episode of the year 2020 and "Postmortem" Paul has officially gone bats. Giant killer bats...with killer red dogs and giant prehistoric annihilators too! So this week, your host takes everyone back to 1982, and a "direct to video" display of moving pictures so insane, it's almost too bad to be true. On today's episode, the movie review of the week is the VHS hidden "gem", ATTACK OF THE SUPER MONSTERS. Yes, it's true. It's that kind of episode this week. So sit back and enjoy the stories of how Emperor Tyrannus controls his minions, and tries to disintegrate the human race! Only the Gemini Force can stop him now! Go G-Force, Go! (Kaiju suits and world domination plans sold separately.)
New calendar year, new episode, NEW YEAR'S EVIL. From 1980. Low budget slasher. That's how we roll...three weeks late. Also for the first blabberfest of this 2020 year, "Postmortem" Paul returns with some commentary on the double failing of two remakes released this holiday season. Ricky Gervais gets the Podcast Zero vote of approval, there's a double Lurker's Recommendation this episode AND a double musical outro as well (listen closely for the spoilery reveal earlier in the show for the second closing track). It's all about double doubles this week for the first episode of 2020, with an added hint of trouble (obviously). This New Year's, you're invited to a killer party...and yes I know, it's three weeks late! Have a cow. But listen to my podcast first! Thanks. Enjoy kiddies. *enter demonic giggle here*
One time director, and famed B-movie actor Edmund Purdom offered to the world an Xmas-ploitation film so great, hardly anyone is talking about it these days. But that's okay, because this week Postmortem Paul is going to deliver the goods to you, as he dives into the British slasher "gem" about a killer whose had enough of good old Saint Nick. This week's featured shared podcast experience is about DON'T OPEN TILL CHRISTMAS, from 1984. Also this week, a quick recap of Joe Bob's Red Christmas, and a recommendation for another holiday horror flick available now on Shudder. So don't go out tonight, and don't dress as jolly old Pere Noel because What Lurks Behind Podcast Zero is now entering the Santa killing zone. You meet Santa Claus tonight boy, he better run for his life!
After a month long hiatus, Postmortem Paul is back with a brand spanking new episode!! This week sees our foul-mouthed (but lovable) ghost host reviewing a classic coming of age horror film from the Great White North, directed by John Fawcett, GINGER SNAPS from the year 2000. Along with the review about the Fitzgerald sisters and their run-ins with lycanthropy, Paul also explains some of the minor changes the show will see from this point onward, as well as gushing about the Vinegar Syndrome Blu Ray release of SPOOKIES! Recommendations about albums from Third Realm and Optic Oppression are also included in this week's episode. So get ready to enjoy this week's foray into the world of werewolves and teen agnst, and remember, "they don't call it the curse for nothing".
Happy happy, Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! Happy, happy Halloween! Silver Shamrock! Yes kiddies, you guessed it right! This week's episode has Postmortem Paul reviewing one of the most polarizing films in any major franchise; HALLOWEEN III: SEASON OF THE WITCH. During his review, he'll discuss some of the origins of the Halloween traditions, and about what John Carpenter's original vision was for the Halloween brand. Also this week, Paul recaps a few moments from The Last Drive-In special on Shudder, the Halloween Hootenanny featuring Joe Bob Briggs and Darcy the Mail Girl. In addition to that, some news regarding TERRIFIER 2 and Michael Dougherty's comments about TRICK 'R TREAT 2, and a recommendation for a cool social media VHS account you all need to check out. So put on your masks and find your cozy spot, while you take in this week's enlightening episode of What Lurks Behind Podcast Zero. No brain cells were harmed during the recording of this podcast.
Say it once, say it twice. The third time's the charm. It's time for your ghost host without the most to call upon the powers of the world's very own bio-exorcist in this, the latest episode of the podcast. This week's featured movie review is of the 1988 Tim Burton dark comedy classic starring Batman himself, Michael Keaton, in BEETLEJUICE! Also in this episode, Postmortem Paul puts to rest a rumour making the media rounds about a possible NIGHT OF THE CREEPS sequel, which leads to a small rant about the validity of things you "read on social media". There's also a recommendation for a Spotify playlist of some great Halloween themed gems, and you even get to hear your host briefly attempt to sing (badly) at the end of the show. So get ready to spend some time correctly this "day-o" and check out the latest installment from WHAT LURKS BEHIND PODCAST ZERO. It's definitely a dead man's party this week!
Do you like ghosts, heavy metal music and Halloween? Well if so, you're going to just love this week's episode. From Studio Zero and the Next Level Network, Postmortem Paul "back-masks" in time to an era of hair metal, high school drama and censorship. Please enjoy this entry in the Podcast Zero catalogue, as 1986's TRICK OR TREAT is reviewed. Also, rumors circulating about the 2020 CANDYMAN movie, a mini review about the movie HAUNT, quick thoughts on the first episode of the new streaming series CREEPSHOW, comments about Jackie Earle Haley's 'Freddy Kruger', and a recommendation for the streaming app every horror fan should subscribe to; all here on this 57th episode of What Lurks Behind Podcast Zero. Disclaimer: don't play this episode backwards. It won't resurrect any demon ghosts. It will just give you a really bad headache.
Due to recent news, this week's episode of Demon Knight has been pushed back to bring you the following episode. This week, Postmortem Paul reviews the 2003 directorial debut of Rob Zombie, and the introduction of the Firefly Family in HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES. As well, Paul takes time out to give a nod to the passing of Sid Haig, one of the main stars of this week's feature presentation. Along with music recommendations for Halloween music - Sam Haynes' Haunt of Horror and Isserley, and thoughts on the indie movie Clownado, it's Studio Zero's pleasure to welcome you back to What Lurks Behind Podcast Zero, part of the Next Level Network of Podcasts. Dr. Wolfenstein approves of this episode.
