What is and what was supposed to be. This episode was meant to be something entirely different, until Shudder released this haunting thriller on their streaming service, and all bets were off. For Episode 87, ‘PostMortem’ Paul reviews the Bryan Bertino eerie farmhouse horror film THE DARK AND THE WICKED, released late 2020 in a limited run. Also for this week’s episode, your host recalls early episodes of the podcast and reflects on the growth of the show. Also included this week, Paul briefly talks about the Shudder Valentine’s event “Job Bob Put A Spell On You”, as well as making mention of a handful of movies he recently viewed for the first time in the past week. Along with a Lurker’s Recommendation, and a quick note about his feelings regarding filming on old 35mm stock film vs. the “Hi-Def’ digital camera era, this week’s episode is one you’re sure to enjoy! This week we return to the world of the Guyver and the Zoanoids for the followup episode regarding the 1994 sequel, GUYVER: DARK HERO. With a new lead actor, and a more serious and darker tone, this Steve Wang directed ‘straight-to-video’ release has gained quite a cult status, and ‘PostMortem’ Paul determines whether this status is warranted. Also this week, a quick acknowledgement to the three year anniversary of the show, the mentioning of another gem to the SpectreVision catalogue and Paul takes a brief moment to address a more serious matter in the world of entertainment & social media. Welcome back to 'Season Three' of WHAT LURKS BEHIND PODCAST ZERO, and the first episode of 2021. This week, 'PostMortem' Paul opens the show talking about a few TV shows he's watched over the last few weeks before diving into the featured review of the week. With a handful of great genre actors, and based off a manga/anime that had a sizable fanbase in the 80's and 90's, this week's review looks at an American live action adaptation of Toshiki Takaya's "Guyver: Bio-boosted Armour" in THE GUYVER, from 1991 (also known as Mutronics in other parts of the world). Rubber suits and "dynamite" rapping from Jimmie Walker, how can one go wrong with a masterpiece boasting those elements? Find out on this week's episode from the podcast. No Zoanoids were harmed during the recording of this episode.

For the final installment of 2020, ‘PostMortem’ Paul explores the relationship between alien and human in the 2020 holiday stop motion animated feature, ALIEN XMAS, as created and directed by Stephen Chiodo (Killer Klowns From Outer Space). It’s a (mostly) family-friendly review about love, and the perserverance of friendship between a misfit alien (X) and a little Christmas elf (Holly), in what is sure to become a traditional favourite offered on the Netflix streaming service. The moral of the story: that Christmas is about giving, and not about taking, and this feature was the gift given to us all from the wizardry of the Chiodo Bros. and the mastermind himself, Jon Favreau. The review that was planned for the 82nd episode has been postponed so that ‘Cyberpunk’ Paul can *half-ass* a review for the multi-platform game stirring up all the buzz recently.
