It's shocking, SHOCKING I tell you, that we haven't done an episode about Shark movies. But finally, the time just felt right for us to cover them. Sharks are, well I'll just say it, scary. They're natural predators. And they make for great material for one of the greatest movies ever made: Jaws. This is a classic, and we have got to talk about it. So, we do! Ah, the '80s. Who could forget those times. The hair was big, the clothes were loud, and the synth drums were in full swing. And in the midst of it all, horror movies were going wild with the special effects they could get away with. John Carpenter's The Thing is one of the most famous examples of the horrific special effects that could be pulled off. 1985's The Stuff introduced us to a monster that resembles a blob of goo. This was then taken to its extreme in the 1988 remake The Blob. All of these movies are great in their own special way, and they all deal with the social paranoias present in a Cold War-era American society. Interesting stuff. Scary thing. Cool blob.
