Most people think the brain shuts down the moment the heart stops.

But in some studies, when researchers were able to measure the brain at the exact time of death, they saw it fire up one last burst of clear, organized activity. The same kind of brain pattern linked to memory and awareness.

Researchers asked:

Is this the brain recalling stored memories? like someone’s life flashing before their eyes? or some other process that we can’t see or imagine?
