This week the Mavs went 1-2 with losses to the Washington Wizards and Utah Jazz while defeating the Phoenix Suns. The Mavs were without both Luka and Christian Wood vs the Suns and Jazz but received huge performances from Spencer Dinwiddie to give the team a chance in both games.

With these losses, the Mavs fall to 26-25 which is good for 8th in the West and will potentially be without Luka for one more game before he returns. Things in the West are very tight and depending on how things play out the Mavs could be anywhere from 4th in the West to 12th in the West by the end of next week. Let's hope for the best.

The Dallas Mavericks went 1-2 on the week. They are still in the 5 spot in the West and they do not lose ground since every team ahead of them is also losing. But they are giving ground to the three teams behind them who are all winning. With the week ending, the Mavs are now 0.5 games ahead of the Clippers, just 1 full game ahead of the Warriors and Wolves and 1.5 games ahead of the Jazz, Suns and Thunder.

This coming week the Mavs will play the Wizards before facing the Suns and Jazz who could each possibly be passing us in the standings if we lose either game. A sobering thought.

Coming into the week, Reese and Bibs were feeling moderately good about how the team has been playing despite their injuries so the 1-3 week was a bit sobering. The Mavs came into the week as the 4 seed in the West and now sit a game and a half back of the 4 seed Kings (which was so weird to type).

It has been a wild season in the Western Conference and there is no telling how things will shake out from here. The Mavs beat the Lakers but lost to the Clippers, then twice to the Blazers on their road trip. The team will head back home now with a freshly injured Tim Hardaway Jr., and a rested Luka Doncic and will hope for some reinforcements to arrive soon.

They'll have two days off following the back-to-back and we will see if they can get back on track in the AAC.

We are BACK after the unplanned hiatus. Between the games being late for us here on the East Coast and Bibs having to actually commute to work this week, recording mid-week just couldn't happen. However, you'll get back-to-back episodes here to make up for it so don't get mad at us.

It's hard to believe but we are already halfway through the NBA season. Through 41 games the Mavs sit at a more than respectable 23-18 which is good enough for 4th in the Western Conference. Getting homecourt advantage in the playoffs will be huge but we'll see how the second half of the season plays out.

In the meantime, Bibs and Reese wanted to reflect on their expectations for the guys on the team, Jason Kidd, and the front office and decide how they've done thus far. We also asked for your input and read those results live on the podcast.
