Welcome to What The Heck season 4! In 1871, Ellen Sadler suffered a terrible seizure, curled up in a ball, and fell asleep. The local doctor rushed in from a town nearby to find out what was wrong, but couldn't wake her. IUnder her mother's care, Eleen became a tourist attraction and the subject of confusion and scepticism from doctors. Over 9 years later, at the end of 1880, Ellen woke up and went on to live a normal life. What mhappened to Ellen Sadler? How was she kept alive while she slept? So far, we've been unsuccessful in finding any concrete answers, but a few of the stories we've covered have been solved. Today, we're looking at the disappearance and death of Mitrice Richardson. Not much can be found about Mitrice's early life, which doesn't matter much for this story, which starts in 2009 when Mitrice was 24. After visiting a Malibu restaurant and failing to pay, she was arrested and then released in the early hours of the morning. With no transport home to Los Angeles and nowhere to stay, reports of Mitrice's wanderings were soon reported. Before the day ended, Mitrice disappeared. The next year, her remains would be found in a remote area, near where she was last spotted. Why did Mitrice get arrested? Why was she released with no arrangements made? Who was misdirecting and complicating the investigation? Listen in to find out!

Atlanta, Georgia has some fascinating history. At the head of the Civil Rights movement, and much earlier than the rest of the US, it was a hub for commerce and manufacturing. That changed in 1906, when a race riot broke out. Soon afterwards, perhaps just 3 years, maybe 5 years, a killer was on the loose, murdering black women just because they could. Over the course of several years, the murders stacked up, and a few suspects were arrested for their alleged crimes. How did Atlanta become Atlanta? Who was the first person to point a finger? In 1980, the anunual Hollinwell Show took place. Families packed a field, and marching bands and majorette groups showed off their skills. All the members of these groups were children. After their competition shows took place, all the children began to feel terribly sick, eventually falling to the ground. An investigation was conducted, but many aren't satisfied with the results. Welcome to What The Heck's Creature Feature! These episodes release on Saturdays and look at folklore and cryptids from around the world! The same academic style is applied to these episodes, but they look at history and eyewitness reports before describing the creature of the week! A lot of the time, theories are a bit more scarce than the main episodes, but the content is still just as interesting.

This week we're looking at the Van Meter Visitor. In 1903, the town of Van Meter, Iowa, was attacked over the course of three days by a huge, flying creature. Every night, at 1AM, a bright light would wake someone up and they'd go to investigate. On two of the nights, the victims shot at the creature, not even leaving a scratch. What did the town do to stop the creature? Could it have been a hoax? Where is the creature now? Listen in to find out!

The police had to involve the FBI, but neither managed to catch the culprit. The police eventually said it was hysteria, but people disagreed with that decision. Who was attacked?
