Welcome to the San Diego County Insider Guide to what’s happening on Sunday, June 15, at the summer’s biggest and best event.
Starting bright and early at 11 AM, the Fire & Safety Expo kicks off in our Arena! This family-friendly event runs until 6 PM and includes firefighting and safety demonstrations, a fire and burn prevention pavilion, and of course, the highly anticipated Firefighter Demolition Derby. At 1 PM, witness the Burn Run Fire Truck Parade and Opening Ceremonies. The preliminary heats for the Demolition Derby begin at 2 PM, with last chance qualifiers at 4:45 PM, leading up to the final heat at 5:30 PM. Admission to the derby is free once you're inside the fair.
Throughout the day, you can explore the fair's overarching theme, "Summer Pet-tacular." Head to the Theme Exhibit, "Pets Rock: Live on Tour, presented by Kahoots," where you can experience the world from a pet's perspective. Don't miss the Great American Petting Farm, where you can interact freely with various animals. You'll also find opportunities to meet adoptable animals in partnership with the San Diego Humane Society.
For entertainment, catch performances by Adam The Great, with magic and hypnotics shows at 4 PM and 7 PM on the Michelob ULTRA Avenue Stage. The Bird Show with Nancy Reigler and her feathered friends takes place at 1 PM and 4 PM on the O'Brien Stage, and again at 7 PM in Family Funville.
As the evening approaches, head to the Corona Grandstand Stage for the Toyota Summer Concert Series. Tonight, get ready for a sensational performance by Los Tigres del Norte, starting at 7:30 PM. Your concert ticket also includes same-day fair admission, so you can enjoy all the fair has to offer before the show.
Then, at 9 p.m. on the Chevrolet Paddock Stage, San Diego's Sure Fire Soul Ensemble delivers a heavy dose of instrumental funk, a vibrant collision of hip-hop beats and soulful grooves.
And of course, no visit to the San Diego County Fair is complete without enjoying the classic attractions. The Fun Zone and Family Funville are open all day with a wide array of rides and games for all ages. And be sure to explore the over 100 food stands offering everything from deep-fried favorites to unique culinary creations.
