Between keeping the farm store open, answering messages, restocking freezers, and baking fresh sourdough, the “productive farm day” we planned turns into a chaotic game of whack-a-mole. We’re trying to do the chores, the maintenance, the animal care, the admin work, the marketing… and somehow still have enough energy left to be humans. Spoiler: we don’t. I’m running on fumes in this one, but we talk honestly about what it actually takes to keep the doors open, why the store is both a blessing and a bottleneck, and how sourdough (as much as we love it) has a way of hijacking the entire schedule. Episode 3: The Dairy Barn That Never Was

In this episode, I’m giving you the uncensored dairy update: we never got to build the dairy barn because last year’s construction projects went wildly over budget, so now I’m out here milking our cow outside in a mud pit like it’s 1847. That means wading through mud and manure to get to the stanchion, then hauling all the milking gear and milk uphill to the wash/pack building to clean everything and package it, because the farm doesn’t believe in “convenience,” only character development. If you’ve ever had a “this is not what I signed up for” day, welcome… you’re among friends.

Episode 1: Electrocution

Today’s farm adventure: installing a tankless water heater for our wash/pack building… and I got electrocuted in the process. Yep. I’m okay, but it was a very loud reminder that electricity does not negotiate. In this episode, I walk through what happened, what we think caused it, what I did immediately after, and what I’m doing differently from here on out so it doesn’t happen again.
