Welcome to WWWW! The podcast were we revisit our favourite childhood movies for the first time as adults. Filmmaker Dana Bontempo returns for this whopper of an episode. Our discussion on The Emperor's New Groove was so jam packed, we're splitting it into to two parts(pre-rewatch and post-rewatch) because audio-files can not handle this much ridiculousness. In the first part, we're reflecting on our memories of this 2000's farce-fable and deep dive into the movie's fascinatingly bonkers history: Back in 1997 the film was originally titled Kingdom of the Sun, with a completely different story but due to studio interference it was transformed into a joke filled romp. After the success of the original, Warner Brothers studio begged director Joe Dante "Please, we need a sequel, you have absolute power, as long as we can call it Gremlins 2!" And he took them at their word, making an anarchic mashup of Looney Tunes humour and creatures FX. We attempt a very civilized analysis but honestly, some Gremlins get in the booth with us and it all goes to hell.

This movie was sort of our white whale, we both loved it as kids and hadn't seen it in nearly two decades. It was our Star Wars... well, Star Wars was our Star Wars-- but we held it in pretty high regard. Now in the sobering light of adulthood, its flaws are clear. It's inappropriate, way too horny and completely humourless but it's not all bad, there's fun world-building in Little America. We cover Eddie Murphy's career in the early aughts, Frazer theorizes about the underlying robot revolution storyline and we imagine a good 2021 remake!
