What would follow

Listen Later

What would follow

Piling in the back seat of a ’74 Firebird

Toking jamming tunes best I ever heard

Crammed together laughing; now I cry

Putting it all into words is hard but I’ll try

Once we were people frozen in time, shielded from tomorrow

Enjoying the thrill of our todays with no worry what would

follow

Grew up and apart from the back of that old car

Though some live close, the distance seems so far

Philosophical and political rifts it seems, created a big

wedge

Some came closer together, while some just went off the edge

Once we were people frozen in time, shielded from tomorrow

Enjoying the thrill of our todays with no worry what would

follow

I think back and wish there was a way that I could reach

But every time I put my pen to paper all I do is preach

I think something must be done, to fix our yellow brick road

Oz is talking stupid ,and I’m worried that it all could

explode

Once we were people frozen in time, shielded from tomorrow

Enjoying the thrill of our todays with no worry what would

follow

Now my thoughts turn to the days ahead and what it will mean

For the next set of kids like us, will the sky be blue, the

water clean?

Will the streets where we used to play be safe for everyone?

I don’t know, but I sure hope they can have half as much fun

Cause, once we were people frozen in time, shielded from

tomorrow

Enjoying the thrill of our todays with no worry what would

follow
