One of my discoveries last year was I am able to easily record the audio from conferences. Considering the ephemeral nature of talks, the ability to record the audio and give that talk a longer shelf life appealed to me.
So I was excited to get an invitation from Mark Deutsche to take part in the Tropical Futures Forum. He allowed me to record the audio and release it as a podcast. Thanks again Mark! There was a lot of learning that day, and I was happy to have the chance to absorb it again through audio. I didn't want to post the full talks because most had something to do with what was on a power point presentation. So it wouldn't be of much value, but there were plenty snippets that were worth highlighting.
So what follows are highlighted portions of the talks from Myka Arnado, Mark Deutsch, Dan Matutina, Chris Fussner, Chad Manzo, Roxy Navarro, and Hannah Martinez-Florendo, as well as a little commentary from me.
Enjoy the podcast!

This episode is brought to you by Qube Gallery, a progressive art space in Cebu, Philippines providing network and exhibit opportunities for contemporary artists with whom they work closely with and promote beyond the local reach. For more than five years, the gallery has mounted shows of engaging artworks and has also represented the Visayas region in various international fairs.
Aside from its physical space in Crossroads, Banilad, Cebu City, you can check out their online collection on www.artsy.net/qube-gallery.
This month at Qube Gallery: Myriad by Lean Reboja. He explores the complexities of the human psyche with his 4th solo exhibition, Myriad, opening on September 26, 6:00 PM, at Qube Gallery.
While Lean paints a fictitious world inhabited by beasts and bizarre characters, they are autobiographic and metaphorical accounts of his introspections. Pop surrealism, the core of Lean's technique, becomes the perfect conduit for Myriad's intention: to explore the in-betweens of the spectrum – the multiplicities and diverse possibilities engraved within us, choices and contingencies, and inner conflicts and dilemmas, that inevitably shape who we are.
This episode is brought to you by Tightrope Coffee. Whenever I have friends and relatives who ask me about good coffee shops in Cebu. Tightrope is always in my short list. They have arguably the best coffee in Cebu. So I'm delighted to have them as a sponsor for this episode.
