Queenslanders with solar PV systems are being urged to shut them down before Cyclone Alfred arrives.
Energex is warning that gale force winds and floods can cause extensive damage to the electricity network.
Energex Area Manager, Chris Graham, told Gary Hardgrave on 4BC Drive, "Now is the time to go out. Turn the solar off, following the manufacturer's instructions and it'll say on the inverter it will say turn the AC supply off first and then turn the DC supply off after that and explain how to do it."
"That's for community safety, for our employees safety, because the winds can damage the solar systems and they can cause faults into the to the house and onto our network and cause challenges and safety concerns for our, our staff, which could even be fatal," Mr Graham continued.
