Webster defines stand-down as, “A relaxation of status of a military unit or force from an alert or operational procedure.”
Our military is trained to eat, sleep, and breathe readiness. They are on their guard 24/7 for threats to their mission and the country they serve. In this era, they are volunteers.
In return, our government is supposed to take care of our wounded and retired military. I think it’s the least they can do for someone who put their life on the line for me. Unfortunately, many come back from battle and are finding that they’re not getting the care and service that they have been promised.
We should never have a homeless veteran, but we do, and once a year veterans organizations all over the world hold an event to honor, tend to, and assist then on their way to a better life.
Please join in and find out about these incredible events. I have attended many in San Diego and now it is available in North County.
