Sadly, the bad news has begun early in 2026 as Meta has closed several of their VR studios and issued layoffs at others, raising the question of whether there should be concern about the viability of Virtual Reality as a gaming medium. Does this further push VR down the niche hole? Or is there still hope out there?

Also, Ubisoft is in the news again for a lot of the wrong reasons. Closing a studio in Canada and facing their own troubles with avoiding unions, issuing layoffs at others, as they also attempt to get gamers excited about their future products, two of which feel like it's just a matter of when, not if, they will be officially released.
