While there have been several musicians bringing the "Appalachian style" of country music to the forefront of the genre, the viral success of some random guy just outside of the region in Virginia has pushed that envelop even further after appearing on RadioWV's social media pages.
Thanks to musicians like Tyler Childers, Nolan Taylor, and Charles Wesley Godwin, stories that come from the Appalachian heart are connecting with people across the nation. They are touching on a plethora of social and socioeconomic topics. They are sharing OUR stories through the stories they put to music.
Are we seeing an Appalachian Renaissance?

Let's talk breakfast. What's your preference? What are your thoughts on "Brinner?" How do you like your biscuits? What does your Mawmaw make the beast for breaky? We discuss this in more depth than we care to admit during this episode!
Cheers!
It's been a minute since we've been on the mic to hang out with y'all. This episode we catch up and talk a little about what we've been doing this past year. Cheers!

For nearly 2 months, social media platforms have had some buzz asking why Disney has yet to create an animated movie based in the Appalachian region. We dive into this topic and discuss the importance of the hypothetical creators' responsibility to properly represent the folks of Appalachia rather than take the easy route of exploiting cheap stereotypes.

Justin Lewis, a director of the West Virginia Fur Trappers Association and Gabe's longtime friend, joins us to talk about trapping for fur in Appalachia. We discuss his story of getting into trapping as well as how trapping has evolved over the last several decades. We learn the basics of the fur market as well as how integral trapping is for wildlife management.
Of course we get off topic here and there, but that tends to happen to friends over a couple cold ones. Plenty of laughs to go around in this episode.
