  • Episode 57 - Are You Building Skills at Work That Can Be Your Career Success Currency?

    send mail

When we develop competencies, they become part of our characteristics. Competencies flow out of us without effort or a lot of thinking on our part. There is a way to build skills into competencies. This is my favourite part of training and development, the work that I have done for 24 years. I love to see people develop a skill or competency.

  • Episode 56 - Do You Build Relational Currency at Work?

    send mail

Do you know that by building relational currency you can foster goodwill among your team and boost your social bank account? Yes, this is where things like participation and collaboration come from. As I reflect on the business of my week, the things that stand out are those of interpersonal equity. Those that allow people to feel empowered and valued at work. Besides the business of my week, the issues of bullying, harassment, and discrimination that my clients are facing are the most impactful.

Listen to how life can be a mirror at work. A leader experiences a junior leader's behaviour as disrespectful and rude and before she can deal with it the junior leader complains that her employee is being rude and disrespectful. I have to laugh sometimes. Listen to how I encouraged her to have a critical conversation and create some insights for the junior leader that would help both their situations. Have a listen. • Episode 51 - Employees Take More Than Paper clips Home

    send mail

Did you know that employees still take paper clips home from work every day? Don't worry! They take more than paperclips home too. You see, employees take all the hardships and misery they face at work home. Especially racialized employees who feel isolated. They create a safe place at home to share their common experiences. Yesterday, I spoke to an employee who told me that she will no longer be silent. What does that tell you? Employees are tired of being passed over, dismissed, dehumanized and ignored because of their race, gender, ethnicity or orientation. There has been a rush of requests lately to address these issues and though I think it's time. Time to be more inclusive, promote equity and build up the intelligence in your workplace. Diversity breeds intelligence. Have a listen now. Learn more on our website at www.interpersonalwellness.com
