With the recent peaceful election and inauguration of Xiomara Castro as president of Honduras, we turn our attention back to Central America for today’s show.

Anthropologist and retired professor Adrienne Pine offers updates on the political situation in Honduras, including the role of the U.S. military, privatization, and neoliberal fascism in driving ongoing violence and the narco-state.

She also highlights the voices of Indigenous people in Honduras, paying tribute to Berta Cáceres, an Indigenous environmental activist who was murdered in 2016.
