For this final episode in our five part series which highlights Hispanic Heritage Month 2021 we asked a tough question.
Which is the correct term; Hispanic, Latino, Latina. Latinx, Chicano, Chicana, or Chicanx? There is arguably no topic more contentious. They all have an origin and a meaning which both solidifies and divides people; this is a rare oxymoronic feat of coexistence. Can such a large and diverse group of peoples be defined by one word? Who decides? My guests today are Socorro Cisneros, Luciano "Lucky" Ortiz, Gretel Rodriguez. Together they dive deep into their personal, professional, and public outlook on the topic. Join us as we navigate the historical and contemporary implications that surround this phenomena. Be sure to catch the podcast video on OnWatch TV (on Roku and FireTV).
*Note: Please excuse the sometimes choppy audio from the host. It does not deter from the very important message of this podcast. It will be addressed before the next episode.
