A Public Affair

What’s in the (proposed) city budget?

Listen Later

It’s that time of year again when Madison looks at the finances for the year ahead. In September, the Mayor released her proposed 2024 Executive Capitol Budget, followed by the Operating Budget last month. During each budget season, The Wisconsin Policy Forum released their budget brief to help explain what is in the budget.
On today’s A Public Affair, we help you understand what is happening with Madison’s finances. Host Carousel Bayrd kicks off the show with Vice President and Research Director Jason Stein, and then she is joined by City of Madison Finance Director David Schmiedicke.
The capitol and operating budget (with changes made by the finance committee) will be discussed by the full city council at the next meeting on November 15th.
