Dion Dawson has experienced both sides of this issue and is doing his part to change the narrative. Listen as he shares his thoughts on the idea that there is not enough to go around.
Coming out of high school Dion wanted nothing more than to know where his next meal was coming from. He was smart and motivated, but his aspirations paled in the face of simply having security. That’s the reason he chose to go into the military.
After leaving the military, he had a long road of figuring out what he wanted out of life and why he was placed on this Earth. It took a youth in his neighborhood asking about his plans for Juneteenth for him to realize why he was here.
It never occurred to him before that moment that he was a leader in his community. Once that trait was brought to light he couldn’t put it to bed.
Listen as he shares how he went from an idea to a million dollar plus business focused on solving the issue of hunger in America. Dion is the epitome of inspirational and we are beyond excited to share his story.
In this episode:
[01:14] Learn about Dion’s aspirations as a young man.
[03:28] He only decided on going to the military out of fear of hunger and poverty.
[04:57] What happened after he left the military?
[09:59] How did he decide that his not-for-profit was for him?
[15:25] It’s not about hunger, it’s about food insecurity.
[17:39] If it’s not illegal and it’s not immoral, then it’s on the table. Learn more.
[19:29] What is Dream Deliveries?
[21:00] He can literally do anything. Learn how that belief has impacted his path.
[23:33] One thing that the Navy has taught him about life.
[26:16] Believe in yourself!
[28:00] How does he see Dion’s Dreams growing?
[33:35] What are some of the pros of running his non-profit?
[36:28] Philanthropy needs to be approached from a sales philosophy.
[39:11] Does he face any challenges today?
[42:21] He’s always known he was meant for more.

In a previous episode, they started to share some of those stories, but decided it was time to dive back in. Listen as they share their favorite jobs, most exciting jobs, and some crazy situations you’d never think were real life.
Wondering what Eunice would think of as the best job? How about the person at the bank who rectifies the money? She got to learn all about how the bank deals with fraud AND got down and dirty with the entire check processing system. (Creative accounting in the 90s required a checkbook!)
It wasn’t all fun and games though. Rachael has worked in a very wide variety of jobs, to include the mental health population of a correctional facility. To say that that job caused her anxiety would be an understatement. Listen in to hear all about that harrowing experience.
Both ladies have been let go from positions, but as usual, Rachael’s termination was way more dramatic.
She takes the cake on the craziest stories. For this episode she shared all about her time as a track and field referee during the junior Olympics. Let’s just say that of the two of them, you’d better watch your back around Rachael. (Hint: She’s 100% that snitch!)
In all seriousness, we had a blast recounting some of our crazy stories. So much so that we’re planning on doing more of these episodes in upcoming seasons. Stay tuned!
In this episode:
[00:01] Welcome back to season 4!
[01:46] We share which jobs we thought were our best jobs. For Eunice it was working in a bank.
[05:11] Back in the day, people wrote checks as frequently as they now use debit cards.
[08:28] We take a trip down memory lane and chat about how gas prices have changed.
[09:41] Rachael shares her most exciting job.
[11:57] Which jobs made them decide they didn’t want to work anymore?
[15:50] For Rachael it got so bad that she was having panic attacks.
[17:41] Eunice worked in the restaurant industry and it was not for her.
[20:05] Servers in the U.S. do not make a base pay of minimum wage. Learn more.
[22:00] Learn more about the difference between how we operate in the U.S. versus other countries.
[23:32] We’ve both been let go from a job in the past, but those just weren’t the right ones.
[27:12] Eunice’s termination was much less dramatic than Rachael’s.
[28:43] We share some moments that weren’t funny at the time but looking back they were impactful.
[32:53] As usual, Rachael has some crazy moments that you wouldn’t believe happened in real life.
[42:11] And now you know, Rachael would definitely be the snitch in this relationship.
[45:16] Season 4 is all about the entrepreneurs!
