For new subscribers to Disney+, the homepage can seem an overwhelming mess of rectangles of shows and films, many of which you might not recognise.

Over the years, Disney+ and Hulu have been receiving multiple original shows each year, so they have acquired dozens of fantastic shows that you can only watch on Disney+, but can easily get lost in the shuffle.

So here's my list of ten shows I would recommend to any new Disney+ subscriber.  Because of the unique way Disney operates in the United States, many of the shows on this list are available on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ in the United States, but globally are available exclusively on Disney+ as originals.

For this top ten list, I decided to limit the number of titles from the Star Wars and Marvel franchises, since I could have easily made a top ten list with these two franchises alone.

To get you into the spirit for the spooky season, Disney+ has a wide selection of films and shows available that either are set during the Halloween season, or just have that little spark that feels right at this time of year.    I've pulled out five titles from Disney+ that I'm planning on watching during October to get me ready for the spookiest night of the year.

Here are my top five things to watch on Disney+ this Halloween:

After subscribing to Disney+, loading up the app on your device and seeing a wall of rectangles offering a wide selection of shows and movies from the past hundred years, it can be a little overwhelming to decide what to watch first.  With hundreds of different movies going back to the 1930s, childhood classics, epic blockbusters, iconic moments and the most recent theatrical releases, picking a movie to watch on Disney+ can be tricky.

So I've put together a list of ten movies I think any new Disney+ subscriber should consider adding to their watchlist.  Now, no doubt you will have some other movies to suggest, and feel free to do so on social media to me, but I've picked out some of the biggest franchises, along with some fantastic original films that can only be seen on Disney+.

Here are my suggestions for films to watch on Disney+ after subscribing:

With the release of the latest Spider-Man film, "Brand New Day" in cinemas this summer, many comic book fans around the world might be looking to get in the swing of things by checking out some of the previous adventures of your friendly neighbourhood superhero.

I've pulled together a list of the live-action movies featuring "Spider-Man", ranking them from worst to best. For the purposes of this ranking, I've also not included the animated films, nor the Marvel "Avengers" and "Civil War" films, or villain spin-off films.

Unfortunately for Spidey fans, due to the complicated licensing rights for the character from a deal made years before Disney purchased Marvel, Sony owns the rights to the "Spider-Man" movies, though Marvel Studios does collaborate with them on the latest films with Tom Holland.

This also means that Sony distributes the movies, resulting in these films being available on Disney+ around the world in different ways from country to country due to licensing contracts.   So not every film on this list may be available on Disney+ in your country.
