Steph and I sit down with Steve Fuller and Simon from Save the Bees Australia and discuss the recent announcement from AHBIC and the DPI that we have lost the the battle with Varroa and we now must move to management. What does this mean for Australia’s beekeepers?!

That week that was. Part two. We were hoping we were moving to management - 204 and counting affected premises now and DPI have hit a deadlock decision. What does this mean. We sit down and chat with Simon @savethebeesaustralia and Steve Fuller.

We sit down and talk with Simon from Save the bees and Steve Fuller. Steve is Executive Councillor of the NSW Apiarists’ Association Inc., President of the Northern Coast branch of NSWAA, an Advisory panel member for Agrifutures’ Australia (Honey Bee and Pollination), Secretary of the Crop Pollination Association of Australia, and a participant in the 5 BEES programme run by Wheen Bee. He swore under oath that the baiting program wasn’t going to work! Did anyone listen ?! No!!! Do we now get to stand up and say ‘we told you so?!’ The devastation is taking its toll. His peers have faced marriage breakdowns, suicide watch and the mass destruction of hives. When does this stop?! This is a no holds conversation. Prepare to have this pod blow your mind!

It’s a very sweet treat for the girls in pink. We have two very special guests sitting down discussing all things that are happening in Australia within the Australian Honey industry. We touch on the V word ( yes we go there again) importation of honey and have a good laugh at the strangest places we have been stung. Simon from Save the Bees Australia has graciously made the time to sit down and have a chat about the V word. Varroa. 14 months on and the DPI are still killing healthy hives and the red zones are still spreading. Commercial pollinators are still moving their hives around and what’s worse - interstate to the almond farms. Let’s talk about what’s happening on our shores.
