🌤️ Spring, summer, autumn, winter—how do you talk about your favorite season in Mandarin? In this episode, we’ll cover essential seasonal vocabulary, weather expressions, and grammar patterns to help you chat about the time of year like a local. Plus, a little sneak peek into how Chinese culture defines seasons using the Lunar calendar!
Grammar of the Day
Here are three sentence structures you can use:

1. 现在是 + season = It’s currently...

   Example: 现在是夏天。It’s summer now.

2. 我最喜欢 + season = I like ... the most

   Example: 我最喜欢春天。I like spring the most.

3. Season + 的时候，我喜欢... = During..., I like to...

   Example: 秋天的时候，我喜欢去公园。In autumn, I like to go to the park.

Simple Vocabulary

• 春天 – chūntiān – spring

• 夏天 – xiàtiān – summer

• 秋天 – qiūtiān – autumn/fall

• 冬天 – dōngtiān – winter

• 天气 – tiānqì – weather

• 冷 – lěng – cold

• 热 – rè – hot

• 舒服 – shūfu – comfortable

• 下雨 – xiàyǔ – to rain

  Example Sentences

  • 今天是晴天，天气很好。
    Today is sunny. The weather is nice.

  • 夏天很热，我每天喝冰水。
    It’s hot in summer. I drink ice water every day.

  • 冬天我喜欢喝热茶。
    In winter I like to drink hot tea.

  • 秋天的天气很舒服。
    The weather in autumn is very comfortable.

  • 春天的时候，我每天去跑步。
    In spring, I go jogging every day.
