The greatest creators in human history - from Mozart to Meryl Streep, Jackson Pollock to Jay Z - don't just have talent; they also understand their motivations for pursuing art. What's Your Creative Type? helps artists do the same in a fun and witty way. Stepping away from the hyperfocus on how people create, What's Your Creative Type? instead explores why. By identifying your creative motivation type, you'll be able to find renewed energy, overcome creative blocks, and release the artist within.
Drawing from creativity theory and personality typology, each chapter of the book is devoted to a creative type, from the A-lister seeking recognition to the activist who wants to change the world. What's Your Creative Type? is peppered with pop-culture studies of famous artists and illustrates each type with entertaining examples from legendary figures.
Whether you're a seasoned artist or a writer in search of inspiration or simply looking to explore your budding creativity, What's Your Creative Type? has fresh and reliable advice and insight for you.

A Verve Filled Guide to Meeting Your Best Creative Self
As a creative development advisor who's worked with artists of all stripes for many years, I've seen more than my share of artists who've been shut-down, side-tracked or befuddled by the commonplace notion that "creatives" are all peas drawn from the same pod. Nothing could be further from the truth. Artists vary! They vary in their motives, appetites, styles, desires, methods, interests, moods, personalities and so much more.
Meta Wagner, a writer and teacher, gets this. She understands that artists who thrive discover and concentrate the energy inherent in their particular artistic nature. In this delightful, engaging and eminently practical book, Wagner travels horizontally across artistic lives, classifying them into a memorable, accessible and resonant collection of five creative types. As a reader, you'll recognize and resonate with the types she describes. They're drawn from life; they're memorable, and they ring true. It's a great heuristic for identifying your core creative nature and identity and for connecting to the secondary aspects of your creative personality represented by the other types she describes.
A particular virtue of Wagner's book lies in its warm tone and manifold design. Its organization is consistent across types but varied within the chapters. She offers us diagnostic questionnaires, snapshot illustrations of well known characters who fit the types, box inserts for taming your tendencies and other devices that keep the reading lively, eye opening and practical. That's perhaps what I like best about this book.
