Publisher's Summary:
Imagine a sisterhood - across all creeds and cultures. An unspoken agreement that we, as women, will support and encourage one another. That we will remember we don't know what struggles each of us may be facing elsewhere in our lives, and so we will assume that each of us is doing our best....
So begins We: an inspiring, empowering, and provocative manifesto for change. Change that we can all effect, one woman at a time. Change that provides a crucial and timely antidote to the "have it all" superwoman culture and instead focuses on what will make each and every one of us happier and more free. Change that provides an answer to the nagging sense of "is that it?" that almost all of us can succumb to when we wake in the dead of night.
Written by actress Gillian Anderson and journalist Jennifer Nadel - two friends who for the last decade have stumbled along together, learning, failing, crying, laughing, and trying again - We is not a theoretical treatise but instead a rallying cry to create a life that has greater meaning and purpose. Combining tools that are practical, psychological and spiritual, We is both a process and a vision for a more fulfilling way of living. And a truly inspiring vision of a happier, more emotionally rewarding future we can all create together.
Members Reviews:
Timely, informative and inspiring
Would you consider the audio edition of We: A Manifesto for Women Everywhere to be better than the print version?
The advantage of the audio is the ability for the narrator/author to emphasize certain passages.
What other book might you compare We: A Manifesto for Women Everywhere to and why?
No recent books come to mind. The approach and intention of the WE authors was different and unique.
Have you listened to any of Gillian Anderson and Jennifer Nadel s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have listened. I think they were both more comfortable with this book for obvious reasons.
If you could give We: A Manifesto for Women Everywhere a new subtitle, what would it be?
The Looking Glass
Any additional comments?
I hope there is a follow up in a year or two.
This is so much more than a typical "self help" genre book.
disappointing
Not at all what I expected from the reviews I read. Reviews did not describe We as a whiney, self-help book. I was expecting something dynamic .. this was not. If I had gotten the book from the library, it would have gone back after the first disc, if I made it through the first disc. Since I got it through a gift subscription, I felt compelled to finish it ... but just could not make it through the last 50 minutes, when any semblance of organization broke down, and the droning voices pretty much just preached. The positive take away for me ... My childhood was not, and my life is not, as dysfunctional as some people's. Or maybe I can move beyond the negatives and get on with life without being told I need to.
life changing
this will be the go-to gift for any women on my gift list in the coming year definitely a game-changer and one that I will read over and over again
wow
