Nevé, our resident expert on blindness, talks us through her thoughts on blindness in fiction, metaphors surrounding sight, has a shout-out for Al Pacino, and explains why bats are freeloaders.

Today, Sam talks about representation through the lens of theatre and literature's most famous disabled villain, Richard III. Was he as much of a villain as Shakespeare wrote him to be, or has history used his disability against him?

Not only have we been friends for over a decade, but we are also affected in similar ways by our conditions. We wanted to create a dedicated space to relate, discuss and cry-laugh over the experience we share - an experience which one-in-four New Zealanders can relate to, and over one in ten people worldwide. Disability isn't as uncommon as you might think.

This is for us, this is for our loved ones, this is for people who understand disability, and this is also for people who don't. There will be something in here that you'll resonate with, we're sure of it.

For our first episode, we play the Newlywed Game - not because we're newly married, but to open up a discussion about each other, so that you can get to know us a bit better before we get into the deep and meaningfuls later on.
