The crisis of representative democracy is being felt in every country in Europe without exception. Abstention, anti-parliamentarianism, anti-elitism and authoritarianism are everywhere we look, the symptoms of an infectious sentiment that has spread throughout the continent. Faced with this alarming state of a airs, several European collectives are taking action to launch a democratic revival, to empower citizens and to rebuild a shared Europe.

To shed more light on these contemporary trends, Laura Fernandez, coordinator of MediaLab Prado, will recount the experiences at the unique citizen laboratory she helped set up in Lavapiés, Madrid. She will be in conversation with Andrei Bulearca, a member of Funky Citizens, the Romanian collective that campaigns for a more transparent and participative system by educating young citizens and developing digital tools to monitor the actions of political representatives.
