It’s been a disturbing, and increasing, narrative the last few years, that having Black (and Brown) skin equals being disadvantage and oppressed. It became clear when a few days ago, in conversation with several friends, non-Black or Latino, insisted that Black people must work three times as hard as White people to be successful; and that I was wrong for saying that it’s not true. And media makes it a mission to take every opportunity to post articles that continue the narrative that Black skin equals oppression and disadvantage.
