Speaking with a young person recently who suffered the horror of having someone die in their arms in a self inflicted incident, robbed this young person of their innocence around the inherent value of life.
Distraught from this experience, this young person went to a mental health professional for help to deal with the aftermath of this experience.
The mental health professional diagnosed this young hero as having the mental disorder of ptsd.
At what point was this person mentally ill?
When they saw someone in difficulty and went to their aid?
When they attended junior school and high school, where one can only imagine, this attitude to life was supported?
Was it when they didnt ignore the incident and cross the road, away from it because it wasn't their job, was it at that moment they were mentally ill?
When they tried to save that person's life, was that the moment they could be considered mentally ill?
When, despite their best efforts and because of unforeseen circumstances, they couldn't save that life, was it then they were mentally ill?
Was it waiting for help, holding that dying person in their arms, trying to comfort them in their last moments, was it at this point they were mentally ill?
Might it have been left holding this lifeless corpse until help arrived, was it as this point this your person was mentally ill?
or
Was it going to a mental health professional; hoping against hope; that they could help them recover and move on with their lives? Was it at this point we can declare this person as mentally ill?
or
Was it when they made the appointment to see that help? Was it then they were mentally ill?
or
Was it a case, that at no point were they mentally ill, in fact they should have been awarded a Nobel peace prize of some sort, for their heroic effort at saving a lie; but the mental health professional decided that all of these heroic efforts were a form of mental illness and diagnosed this person as having ptsd?
To listen to this person, 6 months on; a shell of the person they once were; their spirit broken, their self belief destroyed.
Where is the accountability?
And then we hear that the mental health industry admitted that 39% of the one billion people diagnosed with mental disorders were all misdiagnosed. Might this diagnosis be another misdiagnosis.
How is this happening again and again.
This is a crime against this young person, their family, the human race, and a sin against God.
Now please reflect on your own situation around your mental health, are you being treated for the event that caused your diagnosis or are you being treated for the diagnosis that is a person's opinion and it might be a terrible error of judgement, for any number of reasons.
