Welcome dear listener to the latest episode. I’m Paul and I am joined by Daz and Sean. The Reds beat Aston Villa 2-0 last Saturday and went 5 points clear at the top of the Premier League. Given the international break, we will review the first part of the season, and look ahead to Southampton and Real Madrid .

Part One - Villa - xG (2.02 to 1.38 - Villa 0.73 set play xG in the first half). Villa 2 big chances in the second half?:

  • Starkest example of the Arne Slot plan to control games. It was quite hard work at times wasn’t it?
  • Bradley, Andy Robbo
  • The center backs…. Scousers can’t have the best in the world obviously. The big fast runners through the middle looked a lot less effective here.
  • Incredible midfield control - no Villa shot between 46 and 82. Gravenberch and Jones looking really impressive I thought
  • Salah - 10 goals and 10 assists in 17 games.
  • Best goalie in the world! Martinez has great PR…. 
  • Austin McPhee - how do I know this fella’s name? Had some chances, could have conceded 4 from their corners - first 20 minutes, Bailey Red card?

    • Part two - After Southampton, we have Real Madrid and Man City in the same week

    • 2024-25 hopes aspirations. 
      • Salah seems to have the 2019-20 Sadio Mane role, where he is not going to allow us to stop before we’ve won the league.
      • 9 points ahead of third etc. including Arsenal
        • Southampton - narratives, Team selection and prediction
        • Real Madrid - narratives, Team selection and prediction
        • Man City narratives, Team selection and prediction


          • Part Three - The Coote video and refereeing:

          • David Coote - no surprise about what happened, have we? 
          • Lack of reference to the ‘we hate scousers’ stuff. Suddenly applies to everyone.
          • The Salah test - 220th in the list of number of fouls per 90 last season
