This week we come to the last chapter of Nehemiah. We will have one more sermon from Nehemiah - from chapter 6, which will fit nicely with Ascension Sunday next week. But this last chapter is very alien to us, because of its violence. After all, we are a most enlightened generation, and we say we do not like violence. But our Lord himself was not above violence - see the cleansing of the temple. And there are no carve-outs for when and how we should imitate him. The question is what does God truly expect of us, and why?
