How did Hagar attempt to
protect her child?
Once again, God deals with
Hagar in such a kind manner. His provisions are always more than adequate, as
we see Ishmael become a capable young man. What role did Ishmael play in
Abraham’s covenant with God?
Thank God for how He has
provided for you, not only physical provisions, but emotional and spiritual as
well.

What a sweet scripture passage this is. God kept
his promise and Abraham and Sarah were blessed with a son, Isaac. I love the
phrase “and the Lord did to Sarah as he had promised.” We serve a mighty,
loving God. Think today of a promise God has kept in your life and offer Him
praise now.

to read as we look at this action as an incestuous relationship.
The preservation of the
bloodline of Lot was of paramount importance to his daughters. While they were
indeed successful, their offspring would later become enemies of the
Israelites.
Is this another example of
people taking control of a situation rather than letting God be in control?
How often do we try to
control an outcome rather than allow God to guide us and bless our work?

What a mighty, loving God we serve. He was so gracious to Lot and
his family. How blessed was Lot to have an Uncle Abraham who loved him and
asked God to protect his nephew and family. Is there someone in your life who
has cried out to God on your behalf and begged for God to protect you? Is there
someone in your life that has had an impact on your witness?
Take time today to thank God for such a relationship. You might
even want to send a card to that person and let them know what a difference
they have made in your life.
Is there someone you would cry out for God to protect in a similar
situation? Why not go to them today and
tell them about Jesus?
Who is watching you today to see how you react to trials? Who is watching to see if God is real to
you? God will give you the strength to
follow Him, as He wants nothing more than true and obedient followers.

This passage shows us
clearly how wicked and evil humans had become.
We see two very distinct
sides of Lot’s personality. He offered protection for his visitors by bringing
them into his house and yet he was willing to offer up his daughters to the
mob.
What does this tell us
about Lot?
Even given his struggles,
God was willing to save Lot and his family?
What does this tell us
about the God we serve?
How often have we needed
to seek God’s forgiveness for our transgressions? God always forgives and loves
us unconditionally as He did Lot. Thank you, Lord.
