When Imposter Syndrome Runs the Show with Dr. Sharon Beatty
In this episode of The 3 Parallels Podcast, I sit down with Dr. Sharon Beatty for a real conversation about identity, doubt, and growth. She walks us through her path as a clinician and school counselor who decided in the middle of a full career and family life that she was ready to go further and earn her doctorate.Dr. Beatty opens up about the moment she recognized that imposter syndrome was running the show. Starting her doctoral program pushed her to face old stories that no longer served her and build new beliefs that supported the woman she was becoming. She talks about the difference between facts and feelings, and how she learned to trust her capacity even when the fear was loud. She also shares pieces of her background, her family, and the strength she saw in her father. That foundation shaped her drive to be authentic and move toward the life she wanted.Throughout the conversation, we move through the 3 parallels. Who she was. Who she is. Who she is becoming. It is a full ride through reflection, courage, and belief in self and ability. If you ever told yourself no because you were stuck in your own head, this one will feel close to home. This episode is an invitation to say yes and step into the living room of your life. Tune in and bring a friend. Share this episode with someone who is ready to grow. We are off to earn our doctorate!
🎯 3 Challenges (Lifework) 1. Challenge your old story
Write down one belief about yourself that has held you back. Ask yourself if it is a fact or a feeling. Then rewrite it into a belief that actually supports the person you are becoming.2. Do one action your fear has been blocking
Pick something small that you have been avoiding because of doubt. Send the email. Fill out the application. Make the call. Prove to yourself that courage grows through action.3. Step into your living room moment
Set aside ten quiet minutes today and ask yourself one question. What do I really want right now. Sit with the truth that comes up and let yourself say yes to it instead of shutting it down.
