When is it okay to get really mad? We usually think of Jesus as gentle and patient, but in Matthew 21, He’s flipping tables and driving people out of the Temple. Jesus got angry at what was corrupting worship and keeping people from truly following God with their lives. Maybe it’s time we get angry at what’s corrupting our own worship too.

We love talking about Jesus as Savior, but what about Jesus as Lord? That’s where it gets uncomfortable. Using the image of soldiers being baptized while holding their swords above the water, we ask: What are you holding above the water? What part of your life have you not surrendered—your health, your addiction, your relationships, your money, your ambition?
