What does your family really think of you?
Not what they say to your face, but what comes up when your name enters the room.
Some of us are still paying for old versions of ourselves. Old mistakes. Old words. Old seasons. Family has a long memory, and once a label sticks, it’s hard to shake. Sometimes you’re no longer who you are, you’re who you were.
But here’s the uncomfortable twist: maybe you’re not the rejected one. Maybe you’re the one doing the rejecting.
Jesus faced it in His own hometown. They saw His wisdom. They noticed the miracles. And still, they dismissed Him as “just a carpenter’s son.” Familiarity bred contempt. Proximity blinded them to what God was doing right in front of them.
In this episode, we wrestle with both sides of that tension. What if you’re the family member who’s changed, but no one will see it? And what if you’re the one who needs to extend grace, respect, or humility to someone you think you already understand?
This isn’t about pretending hurt didn’t happen. Boundaries matter. Wisdom matters. But so does honesty. So does repentance. So does the courage to believe God can transform people, including the ones closest to us.
Sometimes the hardest place to recognize God at work is home. And sometimes the person we’re struggling to believe in is sitting across the table.
If you’ve ever felt dismissed, misunderstood, or convicted that you might be missing what God is doing through someone familiar, this episode is for you.
Press play. Listen carefully. Don’t miss the truth just because it comes from someone you know.
