When It Was Cool Dark

The mysterious Mayan civilization built cities, roads, and elaborate complexes throughout central America. An amazing advanced civilization that evaporated in a remarkably short period of time. Host Karl Stern watched an episode of Secrets of Archeology and reviews it and relates his experiences visiting a Mayan holy sight a few years ago.

Karl takes a break from reviewing retro paranormal shows and discusses a topic that have many unsettled- end time events. Biblical plagues as detailed in Exodus. Then, we visit the Revelation of St. John and discuss the infamous Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and see if they are, indeed, riding the earth as we speak. No matter if you believe this stuff or don't, the fact is millions of people do and we can understand their anxieties by understanding these stories. Dystopia, fear, and future events?

An amazing show written by Roald Dahl. From 1979 Tales of the Unexpected is a wonderful show. Similar in many ways to the Twilight Zone but with a more sinister undertone. This episode (season one, episode one) is an often repeated tale of a bet made between a teenage sailor and a mysterious, eccentric, older gentleman but the wager is a strange one. The twist ending is also bizarre. This retro television episode is one that will stick with you, make you uncomfortable, but yet enjoyable.

Another supernatural entity first appeared in the pages of Marvel Comics back in the 1970s alongside Ghost Rider- the Son of Satan! Damian Hellstrom (I nice devilish name) has occasionally appeared ever since in the pages of his own comic book series and as a member of The Defenders. In our current series we are examining the stories we tell that help us deal with the unknown and this story- the Son of Satan, not only deals with devils and demons but with our on family issues as well.

To date, Overkill has released nineteen studio albums, an album of cover songs, two EPs, one demo tape, and three live albums. They were one of the first thrash metal bands to sign to a major label, having signed to Atlantic Records in 1986, and rose to fame as part of the genre's movement of the mid-to-late 1980s, along with the "big four" Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax and other bands such as Exodus and Testament.

We continue our look at supernatural aspects as presented in comic book stories and this week we visit the theme of avenging angels! These are angelic beings sent by a high power to right wrongs and serve justice. Obviously, these beings are vastly powerful and are based on archetype biblical angels. The Specter, Angela, and other powerful beings sent to serve justice are explored in this episode of DragonKing Dark.
